Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Jokowi’s government will continue distributing social assistance to people with low incomes at the end of 2023. The social assistance that will be distributed by Jokowi’s government is related to the El Nino phenomenon or the long drought that is currently hitting Indonesia.
Jokowi will distribute El Nino Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) with a total of IDR 400,000. The cash will be distributed in two stages, namely November and December 2023 with an amount of IDR 200 thousand each.
For the distribution of BLT, the government has prepared a budget of IDR 7.52 trillion. Assistance is aimed at 18.8 million Beneficiary Families (KPM) registered in Ministry of Social Affairs data.
President Jokowi said the aid would be directly transferred to the accounts of the beneficiaries. “Later it will be transferred to the mothers’ accounts, please check later,” said Jokowi during his visit to Padang, West Sumatra, quoted on Friday (27/10/2023).
People who want to know whether they have received BLT can use 2 methods. Firstly through the Ministry of Social Affairs website and secondly through the Social Assistance Check Application.
Apart from BLT, President Jokowi’s government will also continue social assistance in the form of 10 kilograms of rice to beneficiary families in December 2023. The continuation of the 10 kg rice social assistance program was decided at a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (24/10/2023).
This food aid is also provided to reduce inflation due to the El Nino climate phenomenon which has caused rice prices to skyrocket. The government has prepared a budget of IDR 2.67 trillion for rice assistance in December 2023.
Previously, the government had disbursed IDR 7.9 trillion for rice assistance in March-May 2023 and IDR 8 trillion for the September-November 2023 period.
