International CIA & Mossad Boss Meets Qatar PM in Doha, Gaza Negotiations? News – 52 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns, Head of Israel’s Mossad Intelligence Service David Barnea and Qatari Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani held a meeting in Doha on Thursday local time.

A source to Reuters said the meeting was held to discuss the parameters of an agreement to release hostages and a pause in Hamas-Israel fighting in the Gaza Strip.

However, the results of the negotiations are still unclear. But the White House later announced that Israel had agreed to a temporary pause.

A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Burns met with Barnea and the Qatari PM to discuss the possible release of hostages by Hamas. The official declined to provide further details.

“The advantage of the meeting is that it brings together the three parties at one table real time to speed up the process,” said the source, quoted Friday (10/11/2023).

The talks also included discussions on permits to import fuel for humanitarian purposes into Gaza, which Israel has so far refused to allow for fear of diverting it to Hamas for fighting purposes.

A source said that the talks discussed the release of 10-15 hostages in exchange for a humanitarian pause of one to two days in the war destroying Gaza.

Qatar, where several Hamas political leaders are based, has led mediation between Hamas and Israeli officials for the release of more than 240 hostages. The documents were taken by Hamas militants when they attacked in Israel on October 7 and Israel said 1,400 people were killed.

Israel then launched a relentless bombardment of Gaza and late last month began an armored invasion of the enclave. This attack by the Zionist state left more than 10,000 people dead, of which 40% were children.
