HM Sampoerna’s Support for MSMEs to Go Global & Export Palm Sugar Entrepreneur – 3 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT HM Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP), through the Sampoerna Entrepreneurship Training Center (SETC), is again bringing local MSMEs to the next level through the realm of exports for the products they develop.

Ryan Taufani Octavian (31), is one of the MSME players who has benefited from the SETC program. The business is under the banner of PT Duta Comoditi Sultra, with the Aren Murni Alami brand which is directed at working on the domestic and export markets.

He was chosen as the East Indonesia Export Ambassador representing Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra). East Indonesia Export Ambassador was born from SETC’s collaboration under the umbrella of the “Sampoerna for Indonesia” Sustainability Program in collaboration with the Business & Export Development Organization (BEDO) Foundation.

Through the East Indonesia Export Ambassador, Sampoerna wants to produce MSME players who can bring MSME products to the global market. After going through a series of selections, Ryan was selected as the East Indonesia Export Ambassador from Southeast Sulawesi.

“When I was chosen as East Indonesia Export Ambassador representing Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), I became increasingly convinced that palm sugar, starting from powdered palm sugar, liquid and solid palm sugar, had great potential at home and abroad,” said Ryan in a written statement, Tuesday (31/10/2023).

Together with other MSME players, Ryan and the East Indonesia Export Ambassadors received intensive training from SETC to develop their business, see local potential, and a number of technical matters to be able to take products abroad.

Apart from being the 2023 East Indonesia Export Ambassador, his business was also selected to take part in the Indonesian Trade Expo. According to him, this is the first step to start exporting. So far, the company has explored export opportunities to various countries such as the United States, Australia, China, Japan and Korea.

To target the export market, Ryan received a lot of help from SETC because he not only assisted, provided training but also opened market access, such as through Trade Expo Indonesia 2023.

“I am very grateful to SETC and BEDO. I have never received the training I received anywhere else. The important thing is also to help market access by participating in this Trade Expo. This market access is what MSME players need most,” added Ryan.

The palm sugar produced by PT Duta Comoditi Sultra, he said, meets Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and international standards. Duta Commoditi Sultra is also able to produce 18 tonnes of solid palm sugar per month, 5 tonnes of liquid palm sugar and 2 tonnes of powdered palm sugar.

Ryan is optimistic that powdered palm sugar, liquid and solid palm sugar products can be exported because foreign demand is quite high. Ryan also hopes that SETC can continue to support Eastern Indonesia Export Ambassadors through appropriate training, market access and business matching.
