Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is estimated to reach IDR 5,000 trillion in 2030. Of these, artificial intelligence or Artificial Intelligence (AI) will have a contribution from these revenues.
“The 2023 Kearney report notes that the use of AI is projected to contribute to Indonesia’s GDP of US$ 366 billion (Rp. 5,819 trillion) in 2030,” said Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Mira Tayyiba, at the VI Digital Economic Forum (FEDK), Tuesday. (31/10/2023).
He explained that the income value of Indonesia’s digital economy continues to increase. A Google, Temasek and Bain&Co report last year stated that the value reached US$77 billion (Rp. 1,224 trillion), an increase from US$41 billion (Rp. 652 trillion) in 2019.
Even though it brings many benefits, Mira realizes that artificial intelligence is also not free from bad potential. Quoting a Stanford University report, there has been an increase in incidents regarding AI reaching 26 times in a period of 10 years.
“However, the use of AI continues to increase and become more diverse, which also increases the potential for misuse. Stanford University reports that from 2012 to 2022 there has been a 26-fold increase in incidents related to AI,” said Mira.
One of them is the spread of disinformation which was apparently produced using AI technology. Mira reminded that this fact must be a major concern for all parties.
“The increasing spread of disinformation generated by AI also needs to be a major concern for all parties because it can be misused to manipulate public opinion and incite disputes, which can then cause disruption or
“disorder in public services, social order and economic stability,” he explained.
On the same occasion, Mira said that the government was taking steps to prepare a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence for 2020-2045. This document contains the importance of developing and implementing technology with AI ethics and policies that can be prepared and implemented in a transparent, accountable and fair manner.
“This means that AI systems must be designed to be transparent in their decision-making processes, accountable for their actions, and fair in treating various groups of society,” concluded Mira.
