Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – In 700 AD, Abu Ja’far Al-Manshur carried out a revolution that shook the order of the Umayyad Dynasty. The revolution demanded the development of a government that was in accordance with the prophet’s teachings, accommodated non-Arabs, and prioritized leadership for Ali’s descendants.

Long story short, revolution succeed. A new era of the Islamic caliphate was born, namely the Abbasid Dynasty.

The center of Abbasid power was in Baghdad, Iraq, and lasted for hundreds of years. During its existence in the world, the Abbasid era developed rapidly and made the Islamic world the center of world knowledge.

Unfortunately, traces of the Abbasid glory disappeared in 1258 AD after being attacked by the Mongols. The attack destroyed all physical and non-physical aspects of the Abbasid heritage. As a result, traces of the dynasty’s remains are difficult to find.

Even so, traces of these remains were discovered again in August 2020, which is proof of the golden era of the Abbasids. At that time, a group of young Israelis found a treasure in the form of 425 gold coins while taking part in archaeological volunteer activities on Yavnev Hill, Israel.

At first they didn’t know where it came from or how historic the coin was. They only knew that the gold coins were stored in a jug which was closed with a nail.

However, after further research by the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), it was discovered that the gold coin was 1,100 years old and came from the Abbasid Dynasty. The treasure weighs 845 grams, all of which is pure gold.

Interestingly, this discovery is the first because no similar treasure has been found before. Quote Times of IsraelIAA expert Robert Kool called the find a rare treasure that is a clue to digging up information about the past.

“The findings may indicate that international trade occurred between residents of the area and remote areas,” Kool said.

Furthermore, Kool also emphasized that the discovery of these treasures in Israeli territory was proof of the glory of the Abbasid era. This means that the historical fact that Israel was previously under Abbasid rule has been proven to be true.

It should be noted, even though it was centered in Baghdad, the Abbasid territory stretched very widely, reaching 10 million km2 from Persia, North Africa to India. In the end, khe appearance in Islamic coin hoards offers evidence of ongoing relations between the kingdom and the local population during this period.

This relationship was established either through war or trade. Now, the treasure is being kept by the Israeli authorities for further research.

“This rare treasure will certainly make a major contribution to research, as finds from the Abbasid period in Israel are relatively few. Hopefully the study of this hoard will tell us more about a period we still know very little about,” said Kool.
