Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Even though calls for a boycott of Israeli products continue to be intensified, data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that imports from Israel to Indonesia are still ongoing. The value of imports from Israel actually increased in October at the same time as the country’s aggression towards the Gaza Strip began.
According to BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Pudji Ismartini, the export-import portion between Indonesia and Israel is relatively small. According to him, until October the portion of exports from Indonesia to Israel was only 0.07%. Meanwhile, Israel’s import contribution to Indonesia is only 0.011%.
“It can be concluded that political conditions in the two countries are not significant to Indonesia’s international trade performance,” said Pudji, quoted Thursday, (16/11/2023).
According to BPS data, Indonesia’s imports from Israel from January to October 2023 reached US$ 16,925,950. Some of the most imported commodities include mechanical machines and aircraft, tools, cutting devices, and electrical machines and equipment.
