Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A number of McDonald’s fast food restaurant branches in several countries provided clarification regarding food deliveries and support for Israel.
Launching from Hindustan TimesMcDonald’s branches in Lebanon, Oman, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkiye and Kuwait confirmed that they were not involved in delivering food to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) or Israel Defense Forces.
“McDonald’s Lebanon confirms that its franchisees (franchise) in other countries and regions does not represent the views or position of McDonald’s Lebanon in any way,” wrote McDonald’s Lebanon in a statement, quoted Wednesday (18/10/2023).
“McDonald’s Lebanon has no involvement in any actions taken in other markets outside Lebanon. We are committed to our nation and its people with the utmost respect and solidarity,” the statement continued.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s branches in Oman, UAE, Turkiye and Kuwait emphasized that they did not interfere in providing food to the IDF and were on the side of supporting Palestine.
“McDonald’s Oman (Al Daud Restaurants LLC) affirms our humanitarian sympathy for our brothers and sisters in Gaza, and we do not compromise our commitment to the highest principles and values that thrive in our community,” wrote McDonald’s Oman via its official Twitter account (@ Mcdonaldsoman).
Through an official statement, McDonald’s Oman said that it had donated US$100 thousand or around Rp. 1.57 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 15,742/US$) as aid to the people of Gaza, Palestine.

Apart from Oman, McDonald’s UAE also made a donation of 1 million dirhams or around IDR 4.2 billion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 4,285/dirham) to Palestine. McDonald’s Turkey also did the same thing, which donated US$ 1 million or around Rp. 15.7 billion for the victims of the war in Palestine.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s Kuwait, which is operated by Al Maousherji Catering Company, stated that they had donated US$250 thousand or around Rp. 3.93 billion to Gaza through the Kuwait Red Crescent Society.
“Maousherji Catering Company as the local representative of McDonald’s Kuwait announces that we are united with our brothers and sisters in Palestine, especially in Gaza,” wrote McDonald’s Kuwait in an official statement.
“We want to emphasize that McDonald’s at the global level does not intervene in matters of politics, religion or heritage of any kind. What McDonald’s operators in Israel are doing is an example of individual action, not a global decision, and is not approved by other local franchisees.” stated McDonald’s Kuwait firmly.
Previously, calls for a boycott McDonald’s was abuzz on social media after the Israeli branch of the restaurant announced that it was donating 4,000 meals per day to IDF and hospitals, as well as providing a 50 percent discount specifically for IDF members.
According to reports Insiderto date McDonald’s Israel has donated 12 thousand meals to the IDF and the Israeli population.
Based on data as of Tuesday (17/10/2023), as many as 2,808 Palestinians in Gaza were declared dead as a result of attacks between Hamas and Israel. Meanwhile, 10,859 other residents were injured.
