Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesia is still being hit by a long dry season and intense hot temperatures.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a list of the hottest cities in Indonesia from 18 October 2023 at 07.00 WIB to 19 October 2023 at 07.00 WIB, Thursday (19/10/2023). Based on BMKG records, Kertajati, Majalengka, West Java recorded the hottest temperature in all of Indonesia. The recorded temperature in the area reached 39.1 degrees Celsius.
Furthermore, the second hottest region is occupied by Central Java with the highest temperature of 38.2 degrees Celsius. This data was recorded by the Central Java Climatology Station.
Then, the third position of the hottest city in Indonesia is occupied by the South Tangerang region with a maximum temperature of 38.0 degrees Celsius. This figure is based on records from the Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Region II in South Tangerang.
The BMKG explained a number of factors causing hot temperatures in Indonesia. This long dry season is influenced by El Nino, a natural phenomenon in which the sea temperature of the central Pacific Ocean heats up above normal conditions. This warming sea temperature causes increased cloud growth in the region. As a result, rainfall in Indonesia has decreased.
