You can finally enjoy 4 seasons of the ‘very good’ BBC sitcom on Netflix

The fourth and final season of BBC sitcom Motherland has arrived on Netflix, meaning your cozy November evenings are sorted.

The spine-tingling series from Bafta-winning comedian Sharon Horgan follows the ups and downs of middle-class motherhood (and parenthood as a whole) with a cast of kooky characters.

Starring Anne Maxwell-Martin, Lucy Punch, Dianne Morgan, and Joanne Lumley, the stacked ”alpha mum’ show has proven itself to be a certified hit, even spawning a popular spin-off series based on Lucy’s hoity-toity character, Amanda, called Amandaland.

Inspired by classic awkward British humour, fans have grown to love this group of chaotic parents over the years – with hijinks that are truly over the top. This is the perfect comfortable watch.

‘Funny, interesting and well written. I’m sure it hits close to home with a lot of parents,’ wrote Rotten Tomatoes user Brendan M.

“This is really good,” agreed Reddit user ok-calligrapher964.

‘Absolutely top tier. One of the newest additions, for me, to the pantheon of great British comedies,’ echoes Cactusclothesline.

‘I actually love this show. Especially Amanda. He’s very smart,’ said emojicatcher997.

‘National Treasure Joanna Lumley is magnificent in her brief appearance. He’s terrifying in the most perfect way,’ one anonymous user shared.

‘I love this show, it’s one of my all time favorites and a very entertaining show now,’ another posted.

The show recently ended, with Amandaland filling the void in everyone’s hearts, also earning critical acclaim, a buzzing special, and a second season.

When discussing the representation of honesty in parenting, Horgan told the Radio Times in 2017: ‘…it’s hard to show women that they’re doing a bad job as mothers.

‘And that’s why I’m amazed that the BBC lets us do whatever we want; there is no sugar coating in it. There’s no “Right, in this episode, can you make sure you give your daughter five a day?”

‘It just shows a kind of…fuck it. We actually did an early version in the US for ABC but it didn’t work out because we were very closely watched and couldn’t show the ugly side of parenting.’

Homeland is now streaming on Netflix.
