Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The entertainment giant from the United States (US), Walt Disney, has provided assistance to Israel to deal with the impact of the attack by the Palestinian Gaza militia, Hamas, on the Jewish State on October 7. This is delivered directly on the Walt Disney website.
The aid was handed over on October 12, five days after the Hamas attack on Israel. It was recorded that the assistance provided reached US$ 2 million or the equivalent of Rp. 31 billion.
In detail, Disney donated US$ 1 million (Rp. 15.5 billion) to Magen David Adom, an affiliate of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies which provides emergency medical services and blood banking in Israel.
For the remaining $1 million, Disney handed it over to other non-profit organizations working in Israel to provide aid to children.
“After the horrific terrorist attacks targeting Jews in Israel last weekend, we must all do what we can to support the innocent people who are experiencing so much suffering, violence, and uncertainty, especially children,” said CEO Walt Disney Company, Robert A. Iger, quoted on its official website on Saturday (11/11/2023).
“We condemn these attacks, the hatred that motivates them, and all acts of terrorism, and we will continue to seek more ways to provide support in the region, and to honor the victims, their families, and everyone affected by the war This.”
Escalation in the Gaza area continues to increase after Israel bombarded the area sporadically. This was done by Tel Aviv to destroy the Hamas group, which attacked the Jewish State on October 7 and killed 1,400 residents.
Even though it claims to target Hamas, Israel’s attacks have in fact caused great damage to civilians. So far, the number of civilian victims killed in Gaza has reached at least 10,000.
The international community has asked Tel Aviv to stop its attacks on Gaza because of the impact on civilians. Even so, Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu did not budge, thinking that stopping the attacks would bring victory to Hamas.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) issued a new Fatwa, namely Fatwa Number 83 of 2023 concerning the Law of Support for Palestine.
In this Fatwa it is stated that supporting the struggle for Palestinian independence against Israeli aggression is obligatory. On the other hand, supporting Israel and supporting products that support Israel are haram.
Chairman of the MUI for Fatwa, Asrorun Niam Sholeh, emphasized that supporting Israeli aggression, either directly or indirectly, such as buying products from manufacturers that clearly support Israel, is unlawful.
“Supporting parties who are known to support Israeli aggression, either directly or indirectly, such as by purchasing products from manufacturers who clearly support Israeli aggression, is haram,” said Niam in his written statement, quoted Friday (10/11/2023).
