Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun admitted to taking drugs, but Lee emphasized that he took them “unknowingly” after they were given to him by the manager of an adult entertainment company, according to legal officials on Sunday (5/11/2023).
Quoting the report Korea JoongAng Daily, Lee appeared for questioning at Incheon’s Nonhyeon Police Station on Saturday regarding suspected use of marijuana and psychotropic substances. The actor, who played in the Oscar-winning film ‘Parasite’, admitted that he was deceived by an unnamed 29-year-old female manager.
Police also said a sample of Lee’s hair sent to the National Forensic Service for more detailed analysis came back negative. However, late last month, they found evidence related to drug use through digital forensics on Lee’s cell phone.
Lee was accused of consuming various types of illegal drugs at his manager’s house since the beginning of this year.
Police discovered Lee’s involvement in drugs being distributed at a members-only entertainment venue in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, after initially investigating the manager on suspicion of drug distribution at the venue. The entertainment venue is exclusive only for high-income members and celebrities.
A total of 10 people, including Lee and singer G-Dragon, are being investigated by the Incheon Police Agency for drug use.
The police will soon call Lee back for a third round of investigation.
