Southern League Premier Division South Basingstoke Town have signed Bracknell Town midfielder Max Herbert.
The former Bracknell Town captain’s departure from Bottom Meadow was announced on Thursday, and Stoke have moved quickly to sign him as they battle for survival in the division.
Basingstoke are two points clear of the relegation zone, level on 36 points with Hungerford Town and Herbert will make his debut on Saturday at home to Dorchester Town.
A short statement on social media from the Hampshire side said: “Basingstoke Town FC are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced midfielder Max Herbert from Bracknell Town, adding a calm and influential presence at the heart of the midfield.”

On Thursday evening, Herbert himself issued a statement on his departure from the Robins after eight seasons: “I’ve spent almost a third of my life here so it’s hard to sum up what this club means to me. Apart from promotion, play-offs and appearances in the FA Cup, this club feels like an extension of my family. I’ve met so many great people here, including the fans, and many things will remain in my life forever.
“I feel it is important to be transparent with the fanbase, and finances are in no way a part of my decisions.
“I’ve had a few chances to leave in the last few years, but I’ve always stayed. What comes to mind is how to handle certain player/staff situations – the people who helped build the club – and the direction the club is going. “I hope things change because Carl and Sean are brilliant.
“I didn’t imagine it ending like this, but I didn’t want to leave with a bad feeling. So I leave with a heavy heart, but full of happy memories. Robins forever.”
Bracknell Town meanwhile host Gosport Borough on Saturday with Assistant Manager Sean Miles urging supporters to get behind the team with the visitors having an outside chance of the play-offs. He wrote on Twitter: “There are 16 young men who need you to make some noise tomorrow. Let’s create the right atmosphere and have a positive day for each other.”

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
