There are a number of cities in European countries that are recorded as having high crime rates such as pickpocketing and fraud. For this reason, it is highly recommended to be careful in looking after your belongings while on holiday.
So which countries are they? The following explanation is presented International Traveller:
1. Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
Many tourists have become victims of pickpocketing at the Eiffel Tower. Don’t be careless with your luggage when passing through the main road from the metro station to the Eiffel Tower.
You are also advised not to wear flashy clothes and display valuables openly.

Trusi is also very at risk of getting pickpocketed at this famous tourist location. Pickpockets will usually look into tourists’ wallets as they take out coins to throw into the fountain.
3. Charles Bridge, Prague, Czech
Prague is called a paradise for pickpockets. These criminals will usually try to steal valuable things from tourists when you touch the statue of St John Nepomuk to get good luck. There you have to be careful and make sure your bag is attached at all times.
4. Sacré-Cœur, Paris, France
This tourist location is at the height of Paris it is also known to be full of fraudsters and pickpockets who line the entrance, and the road to the main building. The actions carried out by pickpockets here are usually paired with diverting your attention. So if someone asks for your attention and asks questions, make sure you protect your valuables.
5. Colosseum, Rome, Italy

The Colosseum is the place most visited by tourists when they are in Italy. But be careful, there are usually lots of pickpockets who act when you are in a long queue when entering.
6. Old Town Square, Prague, Czech
Prague is one of the main attractions in Czechia for tourists. On big days you have to be careful because big days like Christmas, Easter and others are the biggest harvest time for pickpockets.
7. Las Ramblas, Barcelona, Spain
This place is busy with foreign tourists, making it a suitable place for pickpockets to act. Even though Barcelona is known for having a strong culture, this European city has a bad reputation as a ‘city of pickpockets’.
You must make sure your valuables are kept tightly in your bag or wallet when you are in a tourist area.
