How FPL Harry, Mark Sutherns + others performed in Gameweek 14

This season’s ‘The Great and The Good’ are FPL Godfather Mark Sutherns, BlackBox pair Az and Andy North, Scouts FPL General, Joe and Tom, FPL Wire trio Pras, Lateriser and Zophar, FPL celebrities FPL Harry, Martin Baker, Pingreen, FPL Frasier and Luke Williams, Hall of Famers Ben Crellin, Fabio Borges and Tom Dollimore, and last year’s mini league winner Huss E.

Midweek matchdays are always problematic and prone to rotation, but many of us make the situation worse by betting against Erling Haaland (£15.0 million), as Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) winks his Portuguese eyes at us.

What happened was several days of self-inflicted torture on Bruno’s captains, awaiting their fate following Haaland’s arrest on Tuesday.

As anticipated, the roulette lineup took place, with Bukayo Saka (£10.1 million), Jurrien Wood (£6.4 million) and Igor Thiago (£6.8m) starting on the sidelines. It’s a shame Bruno didn’t do the same.

However, we still have to make the transfer now, before the AFCON top-up reward arrives. I wonder if Colin from Accounts will remember that. I’m sure he’ll be Haaland’s captain. I hate Colin.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

While Matchweek 13 was green, Matchweek 14 was mostly dark red – especially for those wearing Fernandes’ captaincy.

The big winner was Ben Crellin. After deciding to play his Free Hit, a total of 79 points went in, and his gamble on Crystal Palace’s defensive triple-up paid off big. These three alone contributed 36 of them, which gave him 196,000 green arrows. Just imagine what might happen if he becomes Haaland’s captain.

The other green belonged to former Scoutcast sparring partners Mark and Joe. Daniel Munoz (£6.1m) is their equivalent, for example Phil Foden (£8.3m) gives Mr Sutherns the edge.

TRANSFER

There was a frenzy of transfer action as a result Mark Senesisuspension (£5.0 million) and Ismail Sarrhis injury (£6.5m).

Yankuba Minteh (£6.3m) was a popular choice but had a disappointing debut, although the same cannot be said for Foden’s signings of Luke Williams and Mark Sutherns. The exciting forward racked up 32 points over the course of the day.

There is a bit of uncertainty regarding Senesi’s replacement. Nico O’Reilly (£5.2 million) and Malick Thiaw (£5.0m) comes in for some

‘THE GREAT AND THE GOOD’ TEMPLATE

Next, the template, where there is a lot of change as managers start to use up the remainder of their free transfers, and we saw it return from the squad affected by the Free Hit in Gameweek 13.

CHIP KING

Now let’s look at the chip success – or otherwise – of The Great and The Good. Note that this is only up to last week, due to the timing, and therefore does not include Ben Crellin’s Free Hit.

It probably came as no surprise to anyone that FPL Wire’s chief chip strategist, Pras, led the way with impressive use of Free Hit, Triple Captain and Bench Boost.

Elsewhere, Tom Dollimore is the Free Hit king, thanks to his efforts in Gameweek 13. FPL Harry won the Bench Boost battle, although Joe and Luke’s battle is still to come, and don’t think too much about when the best time to activate the Triple Captain chip is (Gameweek 6, for those who haven’t been paying attention).

CONCLUSION

Therefore, rapid developments occurred throughout this Gameweek, as we are back at it again this weekend. Let’s hope for a little more rotation and understanding from the FPL Gods.
